EDMONTON: Alberta Enterprise Group (AEG) will continue to be a leading voice for business in Alberta with the recent appointment of Mr. Joshawa Bilyk as its new President.
Bilyk replaces Founding President Mr. Tim Shipton, who left the organization after seven years to pursue other challenges.
Originally from Alberta, Josh joins AEG by way of the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institution (STRI) in Washington, D.C. At STRI, Bilyk led STRI’s $50 million fundraising campaign to support tropical research, global science initiatives and educational outreach. Prior to joining STRI, Bilyk served for more than ten years as Director of Development (Learning Services) at the University of Alberta.
“Josh brings a diverse and impressive set of skills to the organization,” said AEG Chairman Bruno Muller. “His background in fundraising and experience building networks around a common cause will be great assets for AEG. AEG’s Board of Directors is looking forward to working with Josh and supporting his agenda for growing the organization.”
“As Alberta’s influence on the national stage continues to grow and our economy gets more complex and dynamic, there’s a great need for a growing and ambitious business organization like AEG,” said Bilyk. “I’m honoured to work on behalf of AEG members – who are entrepreneurs, philanthropists and community leaders and collectively employ more than 150,000 Canadians. I’m excited to apply our member’s collective expertise to public policy challenges and promoting economic development at home and abroad.”
“Alberta Enterprise Group will continue to speak out on the biggest issues facing the province today, organize exciting events that connect business leaders with decision makers and innovators, and promote building bridges to new markets in order to continue prosperity here in Alberta,” continued Bilyk. “I look forward to implementing an ambitious agenda for the remainder of 2014 and beyond.”
